What is a blue alert?

My friend in AZ got this alert. What is this for? For people to takeover because the police failed? Get your pitchforks and go into the streets?

Why only cops? I mean, if there’s a killer on the loose, why does the victims employment determine if the public is alerted?

What is a Blue Alert and why did you get one on your phone?

Cell phones blared with a Blue Alert Thursday, but what does that mean? Thursday’s alert was issued following a shooting involving an Arizona state trooper in Phoenix as law enforcement searched for an outstanding suspect, leading to the issuing of the Blue Alert emergency notification. The purpose of the Blue Alert notification is to immediately notify the public that there’s been a violent attack on law enforcement and the suspect is on the loose, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety’s website. RELATED: Teen arrested after assault rifle fired at troopers in PhoenixDPS will issue a Blue Alert when the following criteria have been met:Death, serious, or life-threatening injury to a law enforcement officer. The suspect poses an imminent threat to the public or other officers. The suspect is at large in a vehicle. The vehicle license plate number or detailed description of the vehicle exists. The alert is issued via cell phones and also flashed on Arizona Department of Transportation message board throughout the Valley. DPS said the primary goal of the Blue Alert is to protect the public and officers through ”efficient information dissemination and communication that results in quick and safe apprehension of suspect.”The alerts were signed into Arizona law in 2014. Federal law doesn’t allow the use of infrastructure the same way for Blue and Silver alerts as Amber alerts, but Arizona DPS can use these signs because it’s a state agency.
