I wish I had better news about RATCHED, but it’s pretty much oof all the way down.


@SamWineman Call me weird, but making Nurse Ratched- one of the most iconic villains in modern cinema (and literature) who embodies sadism and the abuse of power- a closeted lesbian just irritates me. Seriously, that trope is tired as Hell.

And I’m not saying it’s her fault, I’m sure she was thoughtful and acts brilliantly in it. I’m just not sure how it will affect people who need access to behavioral health resources. – also, I am aware it’s fiction. Fiction also influences our decisions and behaviors in reality.
Yeah, it’s tough because I have a fascination with mental institution horror, while also not wanting to see it stigmatized as someone with mental illness! I think this review hits on a lot of those points:
