President Donald Trump tweeted early Tuesday, denying reports that it was a series of mini-strokes that led him to have tests at Walter Reed Medical Center last November. The tweet comes on the heels of the release of a new book, “Donald Trump V. The United States,” written by Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times reporter Michael Schmidt. Although the book doesn’t mention anything about mini-strokes, it does shed new light on the secretive, unscheduled visit made by Trump to the hospital.

President Trump and his doctor said that his ambiguous 2019 trip to Walter Reed was not due to a mini-stroke. This announcement came after a new book reported that Mike Pence was on standby to “take over” during Trump’s unannounced Walter Reed visit.
